McCall’s flexible Lace Icing Magic works with all silicon lace mats and is suitable for hand piping. From start to finish your Lace Icing Magic piece could be ready in less than 30 minutes.
Mix Lace Icing Magic with hot water and mix for 5 minutes on low speed with flat beater.
Recipe : 6 Tablespoons dry mix (50 grams) to 4 Tablespoons hot water (60 ml)
When ready Icing Lace Icing Magic will be thick (similar to mayonnaise)
It is recommended that you first spray detailed mats lightly with pan release, wiping of the excess. This will help in releasing the fine detail from your mat.
Spread Lace Icing Magic over mat, a few passes may be required depending on how detailed the mat is. Make sure the lace looks solid with no air bubbles.
There are 2 ways to set the Icing Lace Magic :
1)
You can let the mat sit for 4 to 5 hours at room temperature allowing for the flexible Lace Icing Magic to set. (this may take longer depending on the humidity)
2)
You can also put the mat in an oven to speed up the drying process for 10 to 14 minutes at 80°C / 175°F. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Times will vary depending on the mat, oven temperature, thickness of the mat design and humidity. We recommend you have a oven thermometer to validate your oven temperature is correct.
Gently peel the lace magic icing off the mat. If lace icing magic is still soft, gets stuck or does not peel off the mat nicely, the lace is not ready. Allow to set one additional hour at room temperature or bake for 2 minutes extra . If lace is dry and breaks (crumbles) reduce bake time by 2 minutes or let air dry one hour less.
Providing finished product is kept air tight, icing will remain flexible for a few days again depending on how thick the mat is and the humidity in the air.
This icing can be piped on any non-stick mat to create any custom flexible design or pattern. Let air dry or bake as in above instructions.
You can color the flexible icing with water soluble powder colors, gel or paste colors.
For 2 color, lace mat design plus a back ground color. Follow the above steps as above, bake lace design for 8 minutes, let cool and add the back ground color and bake another 8 minutes. Baking times will vary on thickness of mat .
Store finished lace pieces in parchment paper then in a plastic air tight container.
Store the unused McCall’s Lace Icing Magic in the fridge for 7 to 10 days when not in use.
Please note : Drying times vary with regards to the thickness of the mat lace design or item piped. Humidity in the air will also have an effect. The above are guide lines.
